What is a natural language query?

A natural language query expresses a data question in ordinary words. Natural-language-to-SQL is the narrower process of translating that question into a database query.

For example, “sum revenue by product” specifies a measure and grouping. The system needs to know which table and columns represent those concepts. It may generate GROUP BY and SUM expressions, but it can still select the wrong field or misunderstand a date.

Is natural language to SQL the same as a chatbot?

No. A chatbot can answer general questions; a text-to-SQL workflow generates structured queries against a defined dataset. You still need to inspect the query and validate the result.

QueryAI uses uploaded CSV data. Start with the conversion walkthrough and a small sample with known results.
