How to find top products in an Excel export
Define “top” before ranking products: units sold, net revenue and profit can produce different winners. Export the relevant worksheet as CSV for QueryAI.
- Keep product identifiers, quantities, revenue and the date fields needed for the question.
- Decide whether returns, taxes and shipping belong in the measure. Avoid mixing currencies.
- Ask for total net revenue by product for the specified period, sorted from highest to lowest.
- Check a sample product against the original worksheet and investigate blank identifiers or duplicate rows.
Do not sum a unit price as if it were revenue. If the export contains quantity and unit price, explain the intended calculation explicitly. Keep a copy of the original export to audit the result.
